Using Creative Techniques in a Therapeutic setting

About the workshop

This three-hour workshop will introduce you to different ways of working creatively in counselling sessions with adults. It will enable introduce you to therapeutic tools that you feel comfortable using in your own practice.

Who is it for?

The training is aimed at both students and practicing counsellors, mental health workers, support workers, educationalists and people in helping roles.

What will I do on this workshop?

The training includes the theoretical basis for the use of these tools as well as elements of personal application and the opportunity to explore how to use tools with clients.

About the trainer

JENI GILL is an experienced Arts Therapist and Clinical Supervisor who has worked in education, mental health, social services, charity sector and private practice. As a trained Dramatherapist, she draws on therapeutic tools such as story creation and myth enactment, as well as other creative tools like artwork, sound and music, movement, and play. She also uses these tools in her role as a Clinical supervisor as a way of tapping into the unconscious, exploring issues and finding solutions. Jeni’s work over the last 12 years, and previously to her training, has mostly focused on children and young people although she has some experience with adults in mental health setting and those with life limiting illnesses. She is particularly interested in issues such as transitions, trauma, bereavement, fostering and adoption.
